Week Past 03/19-03/25
Tue 03/20/07 Spring officially begins. After the snow comes the rain that would awaken and feed the roots of the shrubs and trees. Green is coming and I must hurry to do some pruning lest those thorn bushes starts growing. It's prickly and annoying.
Nothing much this week and I thank God for that. I mean no bad news. Life may be routine and nothing spectacular but then it's how you view it. It's a matter of attitude or life-titude. It's not a "quiet desperation" as Henry Thoreau wrote: "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. By a seeming fate, commonly called necessity, they are employed, as it says in an old book, laying up treasures which moth and rust will corrupt and thieves break through and steal. It is a fool's life, as they will find when they get to the end of it, if not before." Lamentable but true. Most often times we do.
A thought: Heard on the radio a few weeks back on my way to work: "Good luck, another term for God...". The commentator was quotingTennessee Williams while reading his memoirs. "Good luck or God Bless" is how we wish somebody when we want them to be safe and well..."Good luck, another term for God"...an insight.

Week Past 03/12-03/18
A very delayed blog. Highlights for this week:
My fraternal brod Boots "depreciated" (that's how he calls it) another year. He celebrated his golden year plus one on Wed 03/14. Left pic below shows us celebrating his birthday 21 years ago at our hangout near QC Hall. He's the guy on the right trying to look cool and tough. Truth be told he's a good guy. Won't even hurt a fly :) Looking at the pic makes me feel sooo old. Where are these guys now? Starting left to right: Boy-Chief of Staff for the Gov of Cagayan;Shane-an Architectural firm partner; Stan-a lawyer, Moi-lost in MN; Boots- Call Center manager in VA.
My brother Jo who was with us with his family lastThanksgiving celebrated his birthday on Fri 03/16. Many happy returns. Hope you guys will join us here this year.

03/15-03/17 (Thu-Sat) Another highlight is the visit of W's colleague, Chona, from her former company. She's on vacation on her way to visit her relatives in CA. She decided to have a stopover in MN for two days. A small reunion on Fri 03/16 was held at home so she can get together with her former officemates and current staff of her office who are assigned in MN. She's the lady in red leading our graces before the meal. It's a mixture of Pointwest and SVI staff.

Week Past 03/05-03/11/07
This post is sooo late. Our computer was not displaying Java script. Reading your yahoo mail in the old version was frustrating. Try doing your blog using html codes. I said forget it. It got me thinking that we really are spoiled by rapid development in technology. The old version of yahoo e-mail was okay then but with their beta you suddenly find the old cumbersome. Convenience, ease of use with new added features, that's the objective in any product development. Once you've tried the new product there's no love lost for the old one: PS3 goodbye PS2. Have you tried the Nintendo Wii? Space Invaders where are you? But then it can also make your life complicated. Some people like it that way. The go go multi-taskers, rising stars got to be on top types. So you have the blackberry, blueberry, redberry or whatever. My cellphone is geriatric. It doesn't take pics or video nor download music. I told W just the phone. If I want to take pics or video I'll use a camera. Music? I'll buy an Ipod. But I'm content with my CD player. Maybe I really don't want to learn and get used to these new gadgets lest I "fall in love" with them and "fall out of love" when a new model comes along. The temptation of spending more for something that offers more. But do we really need it? Now I have a digital camera that my sister gave as a birthday gift couple of years ago. So I'm beginning to appreciate it's features compared to my "antiquated" SLR's. Now I'm thinking if I want to upgrade to a high end digital camera...darn...just the pictures I kept telling myself...but that's the point it offers convenience, ease of use and new features for "better" quality pics...really...maybe I'll wait a couple years for more added and improved features. That's a good excuse.
Not A Good Day(s)
Mon 03/05 was not a good sales day for my department. Two refunds ate up the sales we already had.
Tue 03/06 was not a good day for some of our managers. The company is starting a reorganization and some managerial positions were "excised". Their options: 1) to apply for other managerial positions that were created. But the number of open positions is not enough to accomodate those that are affected. 2) step down 3) take severance pay. To think that some of these managers have been with the company ten to fifteen years rising from the ranks.
Sun 03/11 is start of Daylight Savings Time. This time we have to turn the clock one hour forward. For those working overnights it's to their advantage. They get to be done an hour early. For those working the early shift they lose an hours sleep.

Week Past 02/26-03/04/07
Mon 02/26 TV weather news reports started giving heads up on another snowstorm headed towards MN and the Twin Cities. It will add another 8" to 10" of snow that is already on the ground. It will be another workout for our snowblower.
Thu 03/01 the weather turned for the worst. Unlike last week's snowstorm that happened on a weekend this started early Thu and went on until Fri 03/02 morning. Old man winter decided to start it first day of March. I hope it's his last hurrah but then it's only March.
This snowstorm is nasty compared to last week's. Surprisingly, although it was slow in our store I still made a decent sale. But I can't believe the people that still went to our store even before we closed. I mean the roads and visibilty was bad. They even issued blizzard warning (gusty winds of 35mph or more). My guess is they live nearby. It's still hazardous. At the parking lot my car was covered with about 4 inches of snow. On my way home my average speed was 30 to 40mph. I was thankful there was a lull in most parts of my travel. When I was nearing home that's when the snow started to fall again with gusty winds. I tell you it's not fun driving on roads at open spaces. Snowfall and drifts makes driving very difficult especially at night.
When I got home our driveway was not passable. Combined with the snowdrifts the accumulation was about 2/3 the height of my tires. At 9:30 pm with snowfalling, wind blowing I started my snowblower. By Fri 03/02 morning I would do the same. I think this is the most time that I used my snowblower for the winter and in a span of one week.
I took the top pics Thu 03/01 evening during the snowstorm showing the roads leading to our house. Second row shows the same view following morning Fri 03/02. Third row is me pushing the snowblower and standing beside the accumulated snow after the two storms. Bottom pics shows the snow accumulation in front of the house, backyard and at our deck caused by the snowfall and drifts, Compare that to last week's.
Sun 03/04 I had to help out in another store to transfer some of their items since they are relocating to a new building. I was not able to stay that long (9:00 to 11:00 am) since also W arrived today Sun and I had to pick her up at the airport. She'll be experiencing again disruption in her sleep pattern.
