"GROSS"
"Gross!". This made me laugh.
My wife and I attended a UP Alumni reunion of sort late this afternoon (for those residing within 30 m radius of Mpls I guess) at the De Guzman's residence. It was the first time that we attended such gathering. Most already knew each other and it was not a big group. After the customary introductions, how are you(s) and short talks you run out of topics and there is that awkward silence. So you excuse yourself on the pretext to get food or drink and meander and try to strike up another conversation. Polite. After doing that for sometime I caught Dante (the host) at his home theater room setting up a movie for the kids. I decided to join these kids in watching a Disney Movie "Sky HIgh" to "escape" the party's "civilities" for a while. So there I was watching this scene where the lead characters portraying husband and wife kissed each other while preparing to leave for work. Suddenly this 4 or 5 year old kid uttered "Gross!". I just had to laugh. A kid's perspective on life. Simple, innocent, straight. A far cry from the on going party upstairs. No, I didn't finish the movie. I had to go up again and be an adult. Shucks.
