Week Past 05/07-05/13/07
At The Pump
Tue 05/08 gasoline prices broke the $ 3.00 mark. Ouch. Thu 05/11 the price went up to $3.29. Aiieee. My pocket hurts. I saw on TV news the other day that in some states there are not a few people pawning their valuables for gas money. Unbelievable.
Mother's Day
Sun 05/13 was Mother's Day. It's a multi billion business. I read in the papers that people would be spending on average $135.00 for the event. Approximately 85% of the population would be celebrating the day. Total estimated expenditures: $ 1++B. The Philippines no doubt is fast catching on the commercialism. Father's Day is not as big an event, yet. Like last year, I called my Mom in LA after work. I caught them celebrating at a Thai restaurant with my bro-in-law Mervin and the rest of the family. They are part of the 85%. Last year when I called to greet her they were driving home from AZ.
Since I had to work W went to a get together at Rosemount to celebrate Mother's day. They are also part of the 85%. Were you?
The Garden
Lately I've noticed that when I get home from work when there' still light I always try to tend to the four trees that I planted . Check the condition of the lawn and plants and do "spot" watering. I find it relaxing to watch the trees and perennials I planted grow. Spring is really here and there are still many areas in our backyard to work on. The woods at the back have turned green again. It's nice but it's now starting to conceal the lake view.

Nice to see your enjoying your new home. A previous picture showed you shoveling snow, and now everything is back to normal. Maganda yung backyard mo na puno ng puno (did I say that right) I hope you can make it this year on our reunion. Cyril said he will use his United "power" for a free ticket. Jun A.

I don't think I was part of the 85%, yet! We had to postpone mother's day to today as it is my dad's birthday. Since magkasama naman sila sa sementeryo, ngayon na namin sila dadalawin.

Unfair no! Mas magarbo ang mother's day. Bakit kaya? hehe
